Rear-end crash leads to 2 injured in McHenry

Crashes can scar, maim and take the lives of those involved. Take, for example, this case that happened on Nov. 8. One driver was seriously hurt, and another suffered minor injuries when they were involved in a rear-end collision.

According to the story, the McHenry police were sent to the 4500 block of Elm Street and Route 120 after a two-car crash was reported at around 9:30 p.m. There, they found that two vehicles were involved, with one flipped over against a pole in a Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot.

The incident occurred when the vehicles were traveling east on Route 120. At that time, one vehicle rear-ended the other, going off the road and rolling over. The lead vehicle suffered damage, but it was the driver who struck them who went off the road and rolled. Their vehicle caught on fire while the driver was trapped inside.

Fortunately, a bystander was able to help the police get the man out of the vehicle. He was then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was being treated in critical condition. The second driver was taken to nearby Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, where they received treatment for minor injuries.

Regardless of fault, it’s important that people receive medical treatment after a crash like this. Even minor injuries can be disruptive to your life, let alone injuries that put you in critical condition. If you are hurt in a rear-end crash, remember that you have a right to hold the at-fault driver in your case responsible for those wounds and the costs that come with them.
