Fatal DUI crash leaves 1 dead in McHenry County

Traffic accidents claim lives and leave victims maimed. Some people get lucky and walk away without injuries, but for many, car crashes mark the moment when their lives change forever.

Sometimes, poor decisions lead to the deaths of others. Take, for example, this report about a crash that took place in McHenry County. One person was killed, and another has been charged with a DUI in connection to the collision.

The news reports that it was a 45-year-old woman who was driving when she crashed her vehicle in the fatal case. A man who was traveling with her, 44, was killed in the collision. The crash happened when the vehicle drove into the eastbound lane of Nelson Road before driving off the road and hitting a tree.

The driver was able to be extricated, and she was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Now, she faces charges for driving with a revoked license, failing to reduce her speed to prevent a crash and for driving while under the influence. Her passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crashes like this one are tragic because one person has passed away because of another person’s negligent actions. If you are hit by a driver who is intoxicated behind the wheel or are impacted by someone who isn’t paying attention, it’s your right to pursue compensation from them for the injuries that they caused. Anyone who causes injuries to another person should be held responsible for their actions and be asked to pay for the expenses that the victim or their family now faces.
